Entry Level Medical Laboratory Science Technician (Technician III)

About the role

Meru University of Science & Technology is seeking four entry‑level Medical Laboratory Science Technicians (Technician III) to join its main campus laboratory team. The positions are designed for candidates who have recently completed a diploma in a relevant laboratory science field and are ready to begin a professional career in a university health‑service environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialised laboratory analyses in accordance with university protocols and national standards.
• Prepare, process and examine biological specimens, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of results.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, record quality control data and report any deviations.
• Adhere to health, safety and bio‑security regulations while handling hazardous materials.
• Document test procedures and results in the laboratory information system.

Required profile

• Holder of a Diploma in a relevant laboratory science discipline from a recognised institution.
• Registered member of the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists Board (KMLTTB) with a current practising licence.
• Compliance with Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Required skills

• Laboratory analytical techniques.

• Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and bio‑security procedures.
