Executive Head of Product – Digital

About the role

The Executive Head of Product – Digital will lead the transformation of the M‑Pay app across seven African markets, guiding the shift from feature‑phone to smartphone experiences for millions of customers and merchants. Reporting to senior leadership, you will act as the bridge between engineering, UX, and business teams to deliver a best‑in‑class digital payment solution.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the vision and roadmap for the consumer fintech app across seven markets, leading a team of 80+ engineers, designers and product managers.
• Prioritise the product backlog to maximise business impact and superior customer experience, incorporating industry research and user insights.
• Drive partnerships and loyalty programmes, negotiate commercial terms with third‑party providers and support legal contracting.
• Collaborate with local product managers to co‑develop launch and go‑to‑market plans, driving adoption and engagement.
• Provide strategic support for digital strategy, commercial rationalisation and cross‑market alignment.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in digital product management within fintech, banking or related digital businesses.
• Strong knowledge of mobile money, fintech and financial services, and experience serving emerging‑market consumers.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, negotiate contracts and lead multicultural teams.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree and SAFe certification preferred.
