Fabric Worker Leader

About the role

The Fabric Worker Leader supports the Production Resources Department, Temporary Services Shop (Code 990) at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The position may be assigned to either the San Diego, CA or Kittery, ME location and involves leading a team in containment fabrication while ensuring strict safety and contamination controls.

Key responsibilities

• Demonstrate proper work methods and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Communicate supervisor instructions to journeymen, workers, and helpers to initiate work.
• Lead teams in containment fabrication activities.
• Maintain cleanliness and radiological contamination controls as required.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen eligible for federal employment.
• Pass E‑Verify and obtain required security clearance.
• Male born after 12‑31‑1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Ability to complete a pre‑appointment physical examination and participate in medical surveillance.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays and travel as needed.

Required skills

• Containment fabrication knowledge.
• Experience with nuclear and radiological contamination procedures.
• Use of personal protective equipment (helmets, gloves, coveralls, respirators, safety shoes).
