Field Coordinator – Gender

About the role

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is recruiting Gender‑focused Field Coordinators to support the CASHA project in Kenya’s arid and semi‑arid lands. Coordinators will be based in Lodwar and Garissa and will work closely with project clusters to ensure gender‑responsive implementation of livestock‑based livelihood activities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor field activities across designated counties, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
• Facilitate gender‑sensitive community engagement, entrepreneurship training and adoption of climate‑smart livestock technologies.
• Maintain accurate data collection, reporting and documentation for the project’s monitoring and evaluation system.
• Collaborate with partners, local authorities and ILRI staff to address barriers faced by young women, displaced persons and persons with disabilities.
• Support the planning and execution of outreach events, workshops and field visits.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary education (e.g., agriculture, livestock, development studies, gender studies) or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated experience in field coordination or project implementation in Kenya’s ASAL regions.
• Strong understanding of gender issues and inclusive approaches in livestock value chains.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
