Field Technician - Power and Infrastructure Maintenance

About the role

Broadband Communication Networks Ltd is hiring a Field Technician for power and infrastructure maintenance in Nyanza and Western Kenya. The technician reports to the Team Leader and Project Manager and carries out preventive and curative maintenance of sites, keeping them running and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and curative maintenance according to the procedures in the Quality Management Manual
• Prepare a schedule of preventive maintenance for each cluster by the 25th of the month for the next month's operations
• Report defects, order and collect spare parts, repair them and give a final report
• Coordinate escalation and incident management for curative work with the line manager (Supervisor) and the NOC team
• Keep sites clean and in good order, and supervise contractors so they do not affect network uptime
• Raise work orders for replacement of faulty or worn-out parts and equipment
• Handle emergencies within the SLA and provide first aid to avoid network downtime
• Order diesel for generators in good time and arrange delivery in the right volume
• Ensure all work follows safety measures and HSE rules, using the right tools and safety gear
• Propose innovations for new services and cost reduction for Broadband and its customers
• Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor

Required profile

• Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (power) or a related field
• At least 3 years of experience in the telecommunications industry
• 3 years of experience driving manual vehicles is a must
