Film / Media Studies Teacher

About the role

The Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi is seeking a dynamic Film / Media Studies Teacher for its Senior School. You will deliver IB‑aligned film and media education to MYP and DP students, fostering creative, technical and analytical skills through inquiry‑based learning.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess Film/Media lessons in line with IB MYP and DP curricula.
• Teach film theory, history and critical analysis, encouraging diverse perspectives.
• Guide students through all stages of film production, including scripting, storyboarding, filming, sound capture and video editing.
• Support students in preparing IB internal and external assessments such as portfolios and comparative studies.
• Integrate IB Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL) skills and reflective practice into classroom instruction.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and assessment data.
• Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and contribute to the wider arts programme.
• Participate in co‑curricular activities, exhibitions and school productions related to film and media.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience teaching Film/Media within the IB MYP and/or DP or comparable international curriculum.
• Registration with Kenya’s Teacher’s Service Commission (if residing in Kenya).
• Proven ability to work in a multicultural, student‑centred environment.
