Finance Accountant

About the role

A global business strategy consulting firm, recruited through Summit Recruitment & Search, is looking for a Finance Accountant in Nairobi to manage core accounting functions. The role reports to the Senior Manager, Finance & Strategy, and suits someone with prior experience in a business accounting department.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements and US GAAP, and oversee month-end and year-end close processes
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and prepare statutory financial statements
• Oversee supplier onboarding, invoice processing and allocation, employee expense claims, corporate credit card administration and timely vendor and employee payments
• Review and oversee VAT, WHT, WHVAT, instalment tax and corporate tax returns, acting as the main liaison with tax authorities
• Coordinate internal and external audits with external accounting firms and ensure compliance with financial control and reporting requirements
• Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, monitor assets, review expenses and strengthen financial controls and governance
• Manage intercompany invoicing and reconciliations, coordinate settlements with the netting center and regional finance teams, administer withholding tax and prepare payment files

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline
• CPA (K) or ACCA Finalist
• Up to 5 years of experience in accounting, finance, financial reporting, tax or a related finance function
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and good communication with internal and external stakeholders

• Financial systems such as SAP, Coupa or similar ERP platforms
