Finance & Admin Assistant

About the role

The Finance & Admin Assistant will support the Senior Accountant in delivering accurate financial management and ensure smooth day‑to‑day office operations for a nonprofit serving orphans and vulnerable children in Nairobi.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Senior Accountant with cash‑flow management, financial reporting, and internal/external audits in line with statutory laws, donor guidelines, and organisational policies.
• Enter and process all financial transactions in QuickBooks and perform monthly bank and cash reconciliations.
• Coordinate office administrative functions such as supplies, utilities, maintenance, transport, logistics, insurance renewals, service contracts, meeting logistics and staff welfare procurement.
• Collaborate with programme teams to ensure financial compliance for donor‑funded projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
• CPA II (Sec 3/4) certification or equivalent; ICPAK membership is a plus.
• At least 2 years of progressive experience in accounting, procurement and administration, preferably in a community‑based or NGO setting.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan finance laws and donor‑funded project requirements.
• Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
• Mature born‑again Christian, over 26 years of age, with a verifiable testimony.

Required skills

• QuickBooks accounting software.
• Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Proficiency in Kenyan finance regulations and procurement procedures.
