About the role

The Finance & HR Officer provides integrated support for finance, human resources, payroll, compliance, procurement and office operations at iDE Kenya. Working closely with the Finance and Operations Manager, Country Team Lead and HQ HR team, the role ensures efficient resource use, regulatory compliance and smooth day‑to‑day operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Process payment requests, staff reimbursements, travel advances and supplier invoices; support accounts payable/receivable and cash management.
  • Assist with monthly financial reporting, budget monitoring, forecasting and variance analysis; coordinate payroll processing and statutory remittances (PAYE, SHIF, Housing Levy, NSSF, HELB, NITAS).
  • Maintain bank reconciliations, complete financial records and ensure compliance with donor regulations, organizational policies and Kenyan statutory requirements.
  • Support audits and maintain audit‑ready documentation; process transactions in NetSuite and other ERP systems.
  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, employee induction and maintain HRIS data and confidential personnel files.
  • Manage probation reviews, contract renewals, separations, performance management and staff development activities.
  • Administer leave, employee benefits and medical insurance schemes; handle employee relations, disciplinary and grievance processes.
  • Support procurement processes, vendor quotations, evaluations and contract documentation; maintain procurement, contract and asset records.
  • Coordinate office supplies, service providers, facilities maintenance and logistics for travel, workshops and meetings.

Required profile

  • Proven experience in finance and human‑resources administration within a nonprofit or donor‑funded environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Kenyan payroll, tax and labour regulations (PAYE, SHIF, NSSF, etc.).
  • Familiarity with donor compliance requirements and audit processes.
  • Ability to manage recruitment, onboarding and the full employee lifecycle.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
