Finance Manager (GAAP, IFRS, Closing and Budgeting)

About the role

ATC Kenya is looking for a Finance Manager who will advise the Director of Finance on GAAP matters and lead the Finance and General Ledger team. The role covers monthly, quarterly and year-end closing, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls and supervision of the financial team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Finance and General Ledger team through monthly, quarterly and year-end closing, ensuring accurate US GAAP and IFRS reporting.
• Produce and analyse monthly and quarterly financial reports, prepare the annual audit schedule and support external auditors.
• Manage costs and budgets, assist in annual budgeting and quarterly reviews, and review budget/forecast trends.
• Prepare the annual financial statements under IFRS and review the tax manager's income and deferred tax estimates before posting.
• Assess asset impairment annually, review liquidity and free cash, and evaluate long-term borrowing strategies.
• Supervise the Fixed Asset Accountant and Financial Analyst, including fixed asset capitalisation, bank and journal reconciliations and weekly cash forecasts.
• Maintain internal control documentation and checklists for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, coordinate local SoX and FCPA audits, and work with stakeholders on complex accounting issues.
• Build and maintain financial models and executive presentations in Excel, PowerPoint and ERP systems (Oracle R12, TM1).

Required profile

• Degree in Finance or a related field; membership of a professional accountant body preferred.
• At least seven years of experience in finance, accounting, reporting, business planning and financial analysis.
• Good knowledge of the income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows.
• Ability to work beyond the standard week when needed.

Required skills

• Excellent computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• In-depth knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft Excel preferred.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, audit mindset and people management skills.
