Finance Officer – Forex (Nairobi)

About the role
We are looking for an experienced, detail‑oriented Finance Officer to manage financial accounting, regulatory reporting and treasury functions for our CMA‑licensed entity in Kenya. The role is based in Nairobi and involves ensuring compliance with IFRS and Capital Markets Authority requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, quarterly returns and annual IFRS‑compliant financial statements.
- Compute and monitor liquid capital adequacy ratios, keeping the entity above CMA thresholds.
- Submit statutory returns to the Capital Markets Authority on time.
- Maintain segregation of client funds and perform daily client‑fund reconciliations.
- Manage the full tax compliance cycle using KRA iTax.
- Coordinate external and internal audits and implement audit recommendations.
- Oversee treasury, cash‑flow forecasting and banking relationships.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and produce monthly variance reports.
- Prepare Board and Finance/Audit Committee packs and present performance to senior leadership.
- Maintain internal controls, SOPs and contribute to the risk register.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
- 3‑5 years of finance/accounting experience within a CMA‑licensed entity or financial services firm.
- Fully qualified CPA(K) and active ICPAK member.
- Strong knowledge of the CMA Act (Cap. 485A) and related regulations.
- Solid understanding of IFRS, capital adequacy frameworks and client‑fund rules.
- Proficiency with accounting software (XERO, Atlas, QuickBooks or similar) and advanced MS Excel.
- Familiarity with KRA iTax for end‑to‑end tax compliance.
- High integrity, attention to detail and ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
