About the role
The Global Support Office (GSO) of Trócaire in Nairobi is looking for a Finance Officer to provide financial and administrative support for its programmes and operations. This fixed‑term position (12 months, possible extension) reports to the Finance & Admin Manager and contributes to the smooth running of the GSO’s financial processes.
Key responsibilities
- Process daily financial transactions and payment requests for the GSO.
- Collaborate with GSO teams on financial planning to ensure funds are available for activities.
- Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reports, monitoring budget compliance.
- Assist in the preparation of donor and internal financial reports.
- Produce monthly bank and petty‑cash reconciliations and alert the Finance & Admin Manager to low balances or material items.
- Reconcile balance‑sheet ledgers and submit monthly reports to headquarters.
- Ensure all transactions are fully supported, approved and comply with Trócaire’s procedures.
- Manage staff cash advances and liquidations in line with policy.
- Maintain a robust filing system for audit trails.
- Enter coded expenditures into the Agresso‑UNIT4 accounting system.
- Facilitate bank transactions, act as the GSO bank agent and ensure timely payments.
Required profile
- Relevant experience in finance or accounting, preferably within an international NGO or development context.
- Strong understanding of financial procedures, budgeting and reporting.
- Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines and collaborate with diverse teams.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the Agresso/UNIT4 accounting system.
