Finance Officer

About the role

The Finance Officer will join Yara East Africa Ltd’s finance team to manage the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, payments and related reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices, perform three‑way matching with purchase orders and goods receipt notes, and code them to the correct GL accounts and cost centres.
• Maintain vendor master data, respond to vendor inquiries, perform statement reconciliations and conduct basic due‑diligence checks for new vendors.
• Prepare and execute payment runs (EFT, checks, wire transfers), handle employee expense reimbursements and urgent ad‑hoc payment requests.
• Reconcile the AP sub‑ledger to the general ledger, support month‑end close activities and maintain aging reports.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, delegation of authority, tax regulations (VAT/withholding tax) and internal controls such as SOX.
• Lead automation and digitisation initiatives, optimise the procure‑to‑pay workflow and collaborate with procurement on contract terms.
• Develop AP strategies to optimise working capital, monitor Days Payable Outstanding and negotiate favourable payment terms.

Required profile

• Proven experience in accounts payable, vendor management and payment processing.
• Familiarity with month‑end close activities, accruals and audit support.
• Understanding of compliance requirements including tax regulations and internal controls.
