Financial Inclusion and Partnerships Intern

About the role

The Africa Center for Health Systems and Gender Justice is seeking a motivated intern to support its financial inclusion and partnership initiatives. This role focuses on mapping financial actors, assessing women's access to finance, and helping develop referral pathways that advance gender‑equitable economic empowerment.

Key responsibilities

• Map financial inclusion actors such as SACCOs, micro‑finance institutions, fintechs, women’s funds, banks, and savings groups.
• Conduct landscape assessments of women’s financial inclusion ecosystems.
• Assist in developing referral pathways linked to the Women’s Financial Inclusion and Lending Readiness Scorecard.
• Document barriers women face when accessing formal and informal financial services.
• Support partnership development with financial institutions, investors, women’s enterprise programmes, and livelihood initiatives.
• Prepare partnership briefs, concept notes, and engagement materials.
• Monitor women’s access to financial inclusion opportunities arising from the project.

Required profile

• Background in economics, finance, business, development studies, public policy, or related fields.
• Strong interest in women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion.
• Familiarity with micro‑finance, community savings models, digital finance, or entrepreneurship ecosystems is an advantage.
• Excellent research, stakeholder engagement, communication, and report‑writing skills.
