Fleet & Operations Manager

About the role

We are a fast‑growing car rental and mobility provider in Nairobi looking for a hands‑on Fleet & Operations Manager. You will own the end‑to‑end fleet performance, ensuring vehicles are available, well‑maintained, compliant and ready for customers while building a high‑performing operations team.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily fleet availability, allocation and minimise idle days.
• Oversee telematics and vehicle‑tracking systems, analysing driver behaviour, geofencing and theft response.
• Ensure every vehicle is clean, fuelled, road‑worthy and fully documented before hand‑over.
• Manage preventive maintenance, workshop turnaround, repair cost control and 24/7 breakdown response.
• Administer toll cards, reconcile traffic fines and recover charges from drivers or renters.
• Handle damage assessment, chargeable claims and insurance settlements.
• Maintain compliance with Kenyan transport regulations, insurance, licences and driver standards.
• Design the operational team structure, recruit, train and develop staff.

Required profile

• Degree or higher diploma in Business, Logistics, Transport Management or related field.
• 5+ years in fleet, transport or vehicle‑based operations, with at least 2 years managing a team.
• Hands‑on experience running a telematics or vehicle‑tracking platform and acting on its data.
• Proven track record of building and developing an operational team.
• Working knowledge of Kenyan transport compliance, insurance, NTSA/TIMS and toll systems.
• Experience in car rental, leasing or chauffeur‑driven services is a strong advantage.
