Food Service Worker – Veteran Hospital Support

About the role

Join a fast‑paced healthcare food service team supporting veterans in the Portland, OR area. You will work in a hospital environment, ensuring meals and kitchen equipment are clean, safe, and ready for patient service.

Key responsibilities

• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Scrape, rinse, soak, scour, and clean cookware, trays, utensils, pots, and pans.
• Sort, stack, rack, and process dishware through commercial dish machines.
• Wash and sanitize items using a three‑compartment sink and follow infection‑prevention protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness of food preparation and service areas, including sweeping, mopping, and waste segregation.
• Clean patient meal carts manually or with commercial cart‑washing equipment and transport carts between units.
• Assist nutrition and food service supervisors with daily operations.

Required profile

• Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Current ServSafe Food Handler Certificate or equivalent ANAB‑accredited/ANSI‑approved certification.
• Ability to perform physically demanding duties in a fast‑paced healthcare setting.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
