Founding Full-Stack Engineer

About the role

An early‑stage, pre‑launch startup built by experienced venture builders is urgently hiring a founding engineer. You will work remotely from Europe with close overlap with the founder, taking radical ownership of the product UI/UX and the underlying backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Build and ship SvelteKit applications end‑to‑end, handling routing, server‑side rendering, form actions and client‑side state.
• Write strict TypeScript components, avoiding any and unchecked casts.
• Implement responsive, accessible UI with Tailwind CSS and a custom design system.
• Create and maintain REST or RPC endpoints in Fastify, including validation, error handling and auth middleware.
• Design Postgres schemas, write and roll back migrations, and run raw SQL or use a query builder for complex queries.
• Own frontend performance metrics such as bundle size, hydration cost and Core Web Vitals.
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines for a Node.js/SvelteKit stack.
• Debug production issues across the full stack without handing off to a specialist.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional frontend engineering, with 1‑2 years of SvelteKit experience.
• Deep knowledge of TypeScript, including generics and discriminated unions.
• Hands‑on experience with Fastify or an equivalent Node.js framework.
• Strong Postgres skills: schema design, indexing, migrations and query optimisation.
• Proven ability to ship a live product using the exact stack, demonstrated via a public GitHub profile or live demo.
