Funded 6‑month traineeships for graduates at EU Delegation in Kenya

About the role

This is a six‑month funded traineeship for recent graduates interested in international relations, diplomacy and trade. Trainees will be placed in either the Political, Press and Information Section or the Head of Delegation/Trade Sections of the EU Delegation in Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to political reporting and analysis on Kenyan political trends.
• Support media engagement, update the Delegation website and social media platforms.
• Assist in preparing press reviews, meeting minutes and designing information material.
• Support the Head of Delegation and Deputy Head in horizontal coordination across all sectors.
• Monitor Kenya’s foreign policy, peace and security developments and relations with third countries.
• Follow implementation of the EU‑Kenya Partnership Agreement and other trade‑related agreements.
• Track investment and trade flows, analysing fiscal, regulatory and market impacts.
• Participate in meetings, draft flash reports and support EU economic diplomacy initiatives.

Required profile

• University degree with a strong interest in international relations, political science, security, trade, journalism or related fields, focusing on African affairs.
• Proven analytical, organisational, research and drafting abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work hard, meet deadlines and adapt to a diplomatic environment.
