About the role
KPMG is seeking a Funds and Grants Manager to lead the management of grant programmes for implementing partners in Kenya. Based in the Nairobi office, the role will oversee the full grant lifecycle, ensure compliance with client regulations, and support the delivery of high‑quality audit, tax and advisory services across East Africa.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the focal point for assigned implementing partners, managing the grant lifecycle from due diligence to financial close‑out.
- Coordinate partner due diligence, risk assessments and mitigation measures.
- Review partner budgets, amendments, cash forecasts and disbursement requests in line with SOPs.
- Lead monthly, quarterly and annual partner financial report reviews, including variance analysis and compliance checks.
- Process and track partner disbursements, ensuring KYC requirements and banking procedures are met.
- Maintain accurate portfolio‑level financial documentation, reporting commitments, disbursements and cash‑flow projections.
- Support client cash‑forecasting processes and prepare consolidated quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Guide data and analytics teams in developing financial dashboards and reporting tools.
- Provide financial information for client audits and respond to audit findings.
- Develop and update financial manuals, SOPs and partner guidance materials; lead orientation and capacity‑building initiatives.
- Escalate financial risks, coordinate review meetings and support staff planning, coaching and training.
- Assist business development activities, including proposal writing and thought leadership.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or a related field.
- MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
- Professional qualification such as CPA K, ACCA, CMA or CFA.
- Minimum 9 years of experience in the international development sector, with at least 4 years in public‑sector audit.
