General Accountant – Property Development

About the role

We are seeking a General Accountant to join a medium‑sized property management and development company in Nairobi. The role involves overseeing day‑to‑day accounting operations and providing financial insights to support business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting and finance activities, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and cash‑flow management.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports.
• Maintain accurate ledgers, reconciliations and accounting records.
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts and cost‑control measures.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and tax obligations (VAT, PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, corporate tax).
• Liaise with auditors, banks and regulatory bodies as required.
• Implement internal controls and support financial accountability across the organisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field from a recognised university.
• CPA finalist or CPA‑K qualification.
• Minimum three years of experience as a General Accountant, preferably in a busy environment.
• Experience in property development or property management is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, organisational and reporting abilities with a high level of integrity.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
