General Manager (Hospitality) – Safari Camps, Nairobi

About the role

A lodge company represented by Summit Recruitment & Search is looking for a dynamic, commercially driven General Manager to lead the growth of two well-established mid-range safari camps in the Maasai Mara and Amboseli. The role focuses on growing revenue, expanding the local and regional market and building partnerships with tour operators, travel agents and corporate clients. Each camp has an experienced Camp Manager, supported by an Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to increase occupancy and revenue, with a focus on the Kenyan and East African markets.
• Build relationships with tour operators, travel agents, corporate clients and event organisers, and identify new partnerships and distribution channels.
• Represent the company at trade shows, networking events and tourism forums.
• Create packages, promotions and seasonal offers, monitoring market trends, competitors and pricing.
• Provide strategic oversight of both camps and work with the Operations Manager and Camp Managers on service standards and guest experience.
• Oversee financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, pricing and cost control.
• Lead and support the management teams, ensuring staff development and a positive performance-driven culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field.
• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in hospitality or tourism, ideally in safari lodges or camps.
• Proven track record in sales, business development and revenue growth.
• Strong understanding of the Kenyan tourism market and experience with tour operators, travel agents and corporate clients.
