Graduate WASH Intern

About the role

World Vision is seeking a Graduate WASH Intern to support the Regional WASH program across nine East African countries. The 12‑month internship offers hands‑on experience in water, sanitation and hygiene project implementation, mentorship and professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Regional WASH Director and Infrastructure Specialist in implementing the WASH Business Plan in Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, Sudan, South Sudan and Uganda.
• Support resource acquisition and develop marketing and communication materials for WASH projects and conferences.
• Monitor risk management, data validation and water tracking activities in field offices.
• Contribute to the development, adaptation and scaling of project models that improve child well‑being.
• Strengthen the WASH Community of Practice by establishing and running a regional chapter.
• Provide additional support to the office and field teams as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction technology, environmental engineering, water and sanitation or a related field, obtained within the last two years.
• Registration with a professional practicing body in the relevant specialization.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to uphold World Vision’s Christian values.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) concepts.
• Experience with computer‑aided design tools such as AutoCAD.
• Data validation and water‑tracking capabilities.
