Greenhouse Field Technician

About the role

Eram Talent is seeking a skilled Greenhouse Field Technician to support greenhouse operations and ensure optimal plant growth in field conditions. The role involves hands-on fieldwork, monitoring and managing environmental factors affecting plant health and productivity. The technician also works on plant breeding and genetics research, independently implementing and managing field and greenhouse activities, from designing experiments and work plans to maintaining research equipment and managing research plots and greenhouse plants.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity and soil moisture in greenhouse and field settings
• Ensure successful propagation of research plants and manage greenhouse operations
• Assist in planting, transplanting and maintenance of crops in greenhouses and fields
• Collect phenotypic data needed for experiments
• Organize greenhouse and field spaces
• Inspect plants for diseases, pests and nutrient deficiencies and recommend corrective actions
• Operate and maintain irrigation and fertigation systems
• Maintain accurate records of field activities, crop growth stages and environmental data

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in horticulture, agriculture, plant sciences or a related field
• Prior experience in greenhouse or agricultural field environments
• Experience with field and greenhouse-based research and/or production agriculture (required)
• Ability to work independently and in teams, with good oral and written English
• Commitment to health and safety standards

• Plant health, pest and disease identification and soil management
• Irrigation, fertigation and greenhouse environmental control systems
• Fertilizer and chemical application and management (commercial applicator license preferred)
• Plant propagation techniques and crop management
• Precision agriculture tools and technologies (preferred)
