Operations Manager - Outgrower Systems

About the role

Green Earth Group is a developer of nature-based projects focused on reforestation, land restoration, biodiversity and sustainable land use, working directly with local communities and smallholder farmers. After years of project development, it is now scaling execution by building strong field structures and onboarding thousands of farmers. This Operations Manager role builds and runs the outgrower system that underpins the projects, translating project design into field reality.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable outgrower / smallholder program structures
• Build and manage farmer onboarding, registration and engagement processes
• Organize farmers into clusters, cooperatives or lead-farmer networks
• Manage field teams such as extension officers, agronomists and local partners
• Ensure consistent implementation of agricultural and land-use practices
• Monitor farmer performance, participation and retention, and identify and mitigate delivery risks early
• Work with carbon, data and project teams to align field execution with project requirements
• Improve traceability, discipline and accountability across the farmer network
• Take ownership of farmer network performance and delivery outcomes, and lead and develop local field teams and implementation partners

Required profile

• Proven experience in outgrower schemes, contract farming, agroforestry or rural development programs
• Strong track record managing large farmer networks (ideally 1,000+ farmers)
• Hands-on field experience; this is not a desk-based strategy role
• Experience managing and scaling field teams
• Ability to work in complex, fast-moving environments and solve problems independently
• Strong communication and leadership skills
