Grievance Officer – Field Based (Nanyuki)

About the role

The Grievance Officer will manage the operational grievance mechanisms for employees, contract workers, trade unions and surrounding communities at our sites in Nanyuki. The role focuses on early resolution, dialogue and remediation in line with Kenyan law and UN Guiding Principles.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, log and triage grievances through confidential, non‑retaliatory channels.
• Maintain a grievance register and track each case from receipt to closure.
• Conduct impartial investigations, including interviews, site inspections and document reviews.
• Engage complainants, supervisors, union officials, labour contractors and community leaders to facilitate dialogue‑based solutions.
• Facilitate fair resolution, recommend remedial actions and ensure compliance with timelines and transparency requirements.
• Report regularly to the Human Rights Manager on trends, risks and outcomes.

Required profile

• Mid‑level experience (minimum 24 months) in grievance handling, labour relations or community engagement.
• Strong understanding of Kenyan labour law, UNGP Principle 31 and human‑rights standards.
• Fluent in English, Swahili and the Kimeru dialect.
• Ability to work independently in remote field locations and travel frequently.
