Group Lending Manager

About the role

VisionFund Kenya, a leading micro‑finance institution, is seeking a Group Lending Manager to lead its group lending portfolio. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the manager will provide strategic direction, ensure portfolio growth and quality, and uphold operational excellence across all branches.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to achieve sustainable growth of the Group Lending portfolio, translating organisational objectives into operational plans.
• Lead initiatives to meet portfolio growth, profitability, and client outreach targets while monitoring branch performance against key indicators.
• Oversee credit appraisal, loan approval, portfolio monitoring and recovery processes, ensuring Portfolio at Risk stays within approved thresholds.
• Ensure compliance with VisionFund Kenya’s operational policies, regulatory requirements and internal controls, and coordinate audit recommendations.
• Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring and performance management to regional and branch lending teams, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Promote excellent customer service standards across the Group Lending portfolio and monitor customer experience.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing group lending or micro‑finance portfolios.
• Strong strategic leadership and ability to translate objectives into actionable plans.
• Demonstrated expertise in credit risk management and portfolio quality control.
• Experience leading and developing high‑performing teams.
• Commitment to operational compliance and continuous improvement.
