Guidance Teacher

About the role

We are seeking a Guidance Teacher to join Scoil Aireagail on a fixed‑term basis. The role involves delivering 8 hours of guidance support per week, helping students develop personal, social and academic skills within the Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board framework.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and group guidance sessions for students.
• Collaborate with teachers and parents to identify and address student wellbeing concerns.
• Develop and deliver guidance programmes aligned with the national curriculum.
• Maintain accurate records of guidance activities and outcomes.
• Participate in professional development and school improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Teaching Council of Ireland (essential).
• Relevant teaching qualification recognised by the Teaching Council.
• Demonstrated professional knowledge of guidance practice and pedagogy.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Self‑awareness and ability to manage personal wellbeing.

Required skills

• Knowledge of guidance counselling techniques.
• Understanding of Irish education policies and curriculum.
