Hand Surgery Medical Specialist

About the role

The Hand Surgery Medical Specialist will join the Orthopaedic Department at Kenyatta National Hospital, reporting to the Head of Department. This full‑time position focuses on delivering specialised diagnostic, curative, rehabilitative and preventive services for hand-related conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive hand surgery services, including diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and preventive care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate medical records and adhere to hospital protocols.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Masters of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery or equivalent recognised by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
• MBChB degree or equivalent recognised by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
• Certification or fellowship in Hand Surgery, or a demonstrated interest to train in this subspecialty.
• Registration certificate and a valid practising licence in Orthopaedic Surgery issued by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
• Professional indemnity cover.
