Head of Energy – East Africa

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Energy to lead our renewable energy and telecom power business across East Africa. The role will oversee the planning, execution and operation of solar farms, hybrid and battery storage projects, and telecom infrastructure power solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead energy business development and project execution across the region.
• Plan, manage and deliver solar power projects, including EPC and site‑level implementation.
• Deploy solar, hybrid, battery storage and energy solutions for telecom and infrastructure sites.
• Oversee the full project lifecycle: planning, engineering, procurement, installation, commissioning and O&M.
• Manage EPC contractors, vendors, consultants and local project teams.
• Ensure projects meet scope, schedule, quality, budget and HSE requirements.
• Develop project plans, CAPEX budgets, resource allocations and execution strategies.
• Monitor performance, identify risks and drive timely resolution.
• Coordinate with customers, telecom operators, government authorities and other stakeholders.
• Build and lead a high‑performing local energy/project execution team.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in renewable energy, solar power or telecom infrastructure.
• Hands‑on experience delivering utility‑scale or commercial solar projects.
• Strong knowledge of telecom power systems (BTS/site, tower power).
• Proven ability to manage large‑scale projects, EPC contracts and multi‑location teams.
• Fluency in French (mandatory) and good English communication.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy, Renewable Energy or Project Management.
• PMP, Project Management certification or MBA is a plus.
