Head of Institution - Junior School

About the role

The Head of Institution – Junior School leads instructional and operational excellence for Grades 7‑9 at a growing independent campus serving over 1,200 learners. Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, the role ensures high‑quality teaching, effective implementation of Kenya’s Competency‑Based Education, and strong academic and behavioural outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations, including timetabling, classroom allocation and resource management.
• Monitor administrative processes for efficiency, policy compliance and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate teaching materials, facilities and support services to optimise the learning environment.
• Act as the primary communication link between senior leadership and junior school staff, ensuring clear information flow and feedback loops.
• Facilitate regular staff meetings, briefings and professional development sessions.
• Engage parents and external stakeholders to promote transparency and partnership.

Required profile

• Proven success delivering the Kenyan 8‑4‑4 curriculum and preparing students for KCPE examinations.
• Demonstrated instructional expertise with evidence of nationwide performance rankings.
• Strong leadership experience managing teachers and support staff.
• Ability to mentor, coach and develop a culture of continuous improvement.
