Head of Product Control & Accounting

About the role

Moniepoint is looking for a senior finance professional to bridge Finance with Product & Technology. The role ensures every new product, feature or pricing change is correctly designed from an accounting and control perspective before it ships, and that the resulting data flows into the Group's financial statements.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical accounting partner to Product and Engineering for all new products, features and pricing changes.
• Write accounting memos and position papers covering IFRS 15 revenue recognition, IFRS 9 financial instrument classification, fee vs. interest income treatment, etc.
• Design, build and maintain a consistent chart of accounts for multi‑product platforms.
• Map each stage of the customer journey to the correct GL treatment and ensure end‑to‑end accuracy.
• Review product and engineering specifications pre‑launch to flag accounting and control gaps.
• Own reconciliation between product/transaction data and the general ledger, resolving breaks at source.
• Design and document controls (maker‑checker, exception handling) around new product flows.
• Maintain a living library of accounting treatment documentation per product.
• Partner with Financial Control, Internal Audit and external auditors on product‑related queries.

Required profile

• ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) with 8+ years post‑qualification experience, including Big 4 technical accounting or audit background.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS 15, IFRS 9 and broader IFRS standards.
• Proven ability to translate product or system designs into accounting treatment and GL structure.
• Comfortable reading product specs and communicating directly with engineers and product managers.
• Experience in payments, fintech or banking and exposure to regulatory reporting (e.g., CBN, FCA, CBK) is preferred.
