Health Specialist – Vaccine Preventable Disease Control (Francophone)

About the role

The Health Specialist will support UNICEF’s Measles and Rubella Partnership and the Eliminate Yellow fever Epidemics (EYE) initiative. Based in Nairobi, the incumbent will provide technical guidance on vaccine‑preventable disease control, working under the Senior Adviser Health, Accelerated disease control.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical assistance for measles, rubella and yellow fever programmes across UNICEF country offices.
• Develop and monitor evidence‑based frameworks, standards and policy recommendations for vaccine‑preventable disease control.
• Coordinate with the Global Programme Division and Centres of Excellence to ensure alignment of global policies with country‑level implementation.
• Support the design, scaling and evaluation of disease‑control interventions, including data collection and analysis.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, capacity building and advocacy efforts within the partnership network.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public health, epidemiology, medicine or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in vaccine‑preventable disease control, immunisation programmes or global health initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience working in multilingual, multicultural environments, with fluency in French and English.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with governments, NGOs and UN partners.
