Health Specialist – Vaccine Preventable Disease Control (Francophone)

About the role
The Health Specialist will support UNICEF's vaccine‑preventable disease initiatives across priority countries, focusing on measles, rubella, yellow fever and meningitis. Reporting to the Senior Adviser Health, the incumbent will work within the Measles and Rubella Partnership, the Eliminate Yellow fever Epidemics (EYE) platform and the Defeating Meningitis by 2030 agenda.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance to country offices on immunization delivery and disease‑control strategies.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of global and regional policies, standards and frameworks for vaccine‑preventable diseases.
- Support the design, monitoring and evaluation of high‑impact programmes, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s Global Programme Division objectives.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building among partners, governments and regional stakeholders.
- Prepare evidence‑based reports, briefs and recommendations for senior management and donors.
Required profile
- Advanced university degree in public health, epidemiology, medicine or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in vaccine‑preventable disease control, immunization programmes or global health.
- Fluency in French and English, with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural, multi‑stakeholder environments.
Required skills
- Expertise in immunization strategies and disease surveillance.
- Experience with programme design, monitoring and evaluation in low‑resource settings.
- Proficiency in data analysis and evidence synthesis for policy development.
