Human Resource Officer

About the role

Career Directions Limited (CDL) is hiring a Human Resource Officer based in Nairobi. The main duty is to supervise HR and administrative tasks covering recruitment, contracting, onboarding, performance management, attendance, disciplinary matters and offboarding for personnel at a client site, while also helping build and maintain strong workplace relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage leave requests for direct staff members
• Facilitate onboarding for new hires and ensure contracts are issued on time
• Act as a key point of contact for employee concerns or grievances
• Support performance evaluations for direct staff
• Maintain accurate HR records, including employee files, attendance records and training documentation
• Process payroll accurately, verify timesheets, handle salary adjustments and deductions
• Stay up to date with labour law changes and ensure compliance with employment regulations and internal policies
• Drive retention and growth of the existing customer base through good service and strong client relationships

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as an HR practitioner or in an operations role
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related field; a Master's degree is an added advantage
• Preferred: understanding of Kenya's employment laws

Required skills

• Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office and HRMIS systems
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges
