ICT Officer II – Software Development and Data Centre

About the role

The Financial Reporting Centre (FRC) is recruiting an ICT Officer II for a full-time position in Nairobi. This is the entry and training grade of the cadre, so the officer works under the guidance of a designated supervisor. The role covers software development and networks and data centre support.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in the full software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, deployment and maintenance.
• Develop basic software supporting organizational operations using languages such as Java, Python, C#.NET, Django and Angular.
• Apply best practices such as agile, version control and CI/CD, and write clean, documented code.
• Test applications, troubleshoot existing ones and integrate new applications with existing systems.
• Maintain and update system documentation.
• Help plan, design and implement secure data centres, monitor power, cooling and space, and document operational procedures.
• Keep a register of data centre equipment, log and track incidents, and work with third-party providers.
• Monitor and mitigate cybersecurity threats, and take part in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.
• Research, plan and install new hardware and software, compile management reports, and help set network and infrastructure standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or an equivalent discipline from a recognized institution.
• Proficiency in relevant computer applications.
