ICT Officers (Entry Level) - System Developer, Network & Data Centre, Database Administrator

About the role

The Financial Reporting Centre (FRC), a government agency established under the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act, is recruiting three ICT Officers at entry and training grade in Nairobi. The three positions are one System Developer, one Network and Data Centre Officer and one Database Administrator. Officers work under the guidance of a designated supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• System Developer: take part in the full software development lifecycle (requirements, design, coding, testing, deployment, maintenance), build basic software solutions using languages such as Java, Python, C#.NET, Django and Angular, follow agile, version control and CI/CD practices, write clean documented code, test applications, troubleshoot existing apps, integrate new applications with existing systems and maintain system documentation.
• Network and Data Centre Officer: help plan, design and implement secure data centres; monitor power, cooling and space and equipment; document operational procedures and keep equipment registers; log and track incidents; work with third-party providers; help mitigate cybersecurity threats; take part in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans; research, plan and install new hardware and software; compile ICT network and data centre reports.
• Database Administrator: maintain user accounts, permissions and access rights; support database troubleshooting; run scheduled backups; ensure database availability, capacity, security, stability and performance; implement disaster recovery and process improvement plans; test disaster recovery plans; keep documentation of data storage and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or an equivalent discipline from a recognised institution.
• Proficiency in relevant computer applications.
