Independent Travel Consultant – Fixed Term

About the role

The Independent Travel Consultant will lead the strategic planning, execution and continuous optimisation of Safaricom’s corporate travel function. Reporting to the Fleet, Travel and Leases Lead, the role ensures cost‑effective, compliant and safe travel while enhancing the overall traveller experience for both local and international journeys.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement end‑to‑end travel services including flight bookings, ground transfers, accommodation, MICE, visa processing and meet‑and‑assist.
• Provide advisory on travel policies, processes and procedures to ensure SLA compliance.
• Engage with internal stakeholders and manage supplier relationships, evaluating performance and negotiating contracts.
• Oversee travel risk management, operational efficiency and budget control.
• Leverage industry best practices and data‑driven insights to drive continuous improvement and informed decision‑making.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic planning and execution of corporate travel programmes.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and supplier management capabilities.
• Ability to manage travel risk, operational efficiency and budget oversight.
• Familiarity with travel policies, SLAs and compliance requirements.
