Integrated Science Teacher (Njabini, Nyandarua)

About the role

Flying Kites Academy in Njabini, Nyandarua County, is looking for an Integrated Science Teacher. The teacher reports to the Head of School and delivers instruction aligned with the Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum while promoting gender-transformative education and safeguarding. The role is full-time, based in Njabini, and includes occasional weekend and after-hours work.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-impact instruction aligned with the CBE curriculum and implement Gender-Transformative Education across classes
• Create a safe, respectful, inclusive classroom and manage behaviour with positive discipline
• Design lesson plans and projects, develop teaching aids, and deliver engaging instruction using varied visual and audio strategies
• Develop, administer and grade assessments, use assessment data to give feedback and adjust teaching, and keep accurate records of attendance, behaviour and incidents
• Support students' career pathways, plan in-class and outdoor activities, and support school events and co-curricular activities
• Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, and report incidents of violence, neglect or child abuse
• Supervise assemblies, school meals, student arrivals and releases, and collaborate with the social work team
• Take part in network school activities, special projects and working committees, and attend professional development

Required profile

• Bachelor of Education (Science) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics
• Valid TSC registration
• 5+ years of experience in a Kenyan child-centric CBO, NGO or school environment
• Incident-free Children's Check and Certificate of Good Conduct at the time of hire
• Willingness to work weekends and after hours and occasional travel

Required skills

• Strong subject expertise in at least three learning areas
• Demonstrated knowledge of the CBE delivery approach and ICT integration in teaching
• Classroom management, leadership and strong communication skills
