IT Expert

About the role

We are looking for an IT Expert to design, implement and maintain the technology backbone that supports our research operations. You will work on mobile data collection platforms, cloud infrastructure and analytics tools while ensuring security and data protection.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy mobile data collection solutions such as ODK, KoboToolbox, SurveyCTO and CommCare.
• Manage cloud infrastructure including databases, dashboards, file storage and automation workflows.
• Build and maintain internal web tools, APIs and analytics dashboards.
• Enforce cybersecurity, data‑protection and backup policies.
• Provide L2/L3 IT support across the organisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or a related field.
• At least 4 years of professional experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) and database administration.

Required skills

• Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript and SQL.
• Experience with BI/visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker or Metabase.
• Familiarity with statistical or data‑analysis tools (R, Stata, SPSS) is a plus.
• Knowledge of GDPR and Kenya Data Protection Act requirements.
