IT Officer

About the role

Somtrade Limited is looking for an IT Officer to oversee and support the IT infrastructure at its Container Freight Station (CFS) in Mombasa. The successful candidate will ensure reliable network performance, maintain hardware and software assets, and uphold security standards across the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and monitor the CFS network, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Perform routine hardware and software maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Implement and enforce IT security policies, conduct vulnerability assessments, and respond to incidents.
• Coordinate system upgrades and ensure minimal downtime for critical applications.
• Provide first‑line technical support to end‑users and resolve IT issues promptly.
• Document configurations, procedures, and incident reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• Previous experience in IT support or administration, preferably within logistics or a similar industry.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ or Cisco CCNA.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, effective communication, and the capacity to work under pressure.
