IT Systems Specialist (Intern) – School Technology Support

About the role

The IT Systems Specialist Intern provides user support and technology administration for school technology environments. Working under general supervision, the intern assists with troubleshooting workstations, networks, servers, and printers while gaining hands‑on experience in system analysis and configuration changes.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and resolve technical issues on computers, printers, and network devices.
• Perform systems analysis, design, and implement configuration changes.
• Assist with hardware moves, wiring, equipment maintenance, and installation in tight or un‑air‑conditioned spaces.
• Transport MCPS equipment securely and provide overnight storage as needed.
• Support overtime and emergency work requirements, including evenings and weekends.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience in user support and technology administration required.
• Valid driver’s license and personal transportation.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing, and crawling.
• Knowledge of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).

Required skills

• Knowledge of standard microcomputer operating systems.
• Familiarity with multiple network operating systems and protocols.
• Proficiency with standard desktop and communications applications.
• Effective oral and written communication.

What we offer

• Hourly wage ranging from $32.79 to $48.39.
• Full‑time schedule (8 hours/day) for 12 months.
