Junior Accountant - Manufacturing

About the role

A client in the manufacturing industry, based in Nairobi, is looking for a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate has prior accounting experience in a manufacturing setting, strong reconciliation skills and familiarity with inventory and cost accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Record and reconcile daily financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments.
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Monitor inventory transactions and track the cost of goods sold (COGS).
• Reconcile supplier accounts, customer statements and bank transactions.
• Support payroll accounting and ensure accurate statutory deductions and filings.
• Assist in budgeting, variance analysis and cost tracking for production inputs.
• Work with production and stores teams to validate material movements and consumption.
• Prepare documentation and schedules needed for internal and external audits, and maintain proper filing of financial records.
• Take part in regular stock takes and investigate variances.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; CPA Part II or above is a distinct advantage.
• Minimum 1-2 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Knowledge of inventory accounting and cost allocation principles.
• Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail, and the ability to manage several tasks and meet deadlines.
