About the role
Our client, a medium‑sized law firm in Nairobi, is seeking a Junior Commercial & Conveyancing Advocate to support its real‑estate, banking and finance practice. The role offers direct exposure to high‑value transactions and the chance to develop expertise under experienced mentors.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct official land registry searches, verify property ownership and investigate titles.
- Prepare sale agreements, transfers, leases, charges/mortgages and discharge of charges.
- Draft letters of offer, amalgamation or subdivision applications, and various commercial agreements such as NDAs, SLAs, shareholder and employment contracts.
- Assist with company secretarial duties, registrations, restructuring and regulatory compliance.
- Analyse commercial risks, provide formal legal advice and follow up with clients and opposing counsel.
- Handle stamp duty valuation, payment and lodging of documents at the relevant registries.
- Prepare and perfect security instruments, including charges, mortgages, debentures, guarantees and indemnities.
- Draft board minutes, shareholder resolutions and annual returns, and conduct company registry searches.
Required profile
- Qualified Advocate with a keen interest in commercial and conveyancing work.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple transactional deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Team‑player attitude with a willingness to learn from senior lawyers.
