Laboratory Specialist Trainee – Early Production Facilities

About the role

The Laboratory Specialist Trainee supports Early Production Facility projects by gaining hands‑on experience in laboratory testing, fluid sampling, and data management. Working under experienced specialists, the trainee develops competency in hydrocarbon analysis, production chemistry, and laboratory quality systems while adhering to SLB safety and HSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine analysis of crude oil, gas, produced water, glycol, amine, and production chemicals using approved methods.
• Assist with field sampling activities following SLB HSE protocols.
• Apply laboratory quality‑control practices in line with SLB QMS and ISO standards.
• Maintain calibration, service, and checks of laboratory equipment.
• Record results, generate reports, and manage calibration logs using SLB digital tools.
• Support inventory management of consumables and reagents, and participate in lab commissioning and new method implementation.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry or a related discipline.
• 0‑2 years of experience; recent graduate preferred.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques, chemical handling, and safety procedures.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as GC, spectrophotometer, and water‑analysis instruments is advantageous.
• Awareness of oil/gas production fluids and quality‑system standards (ISO) is a plus.
