Laboratory Technician – Vegetable Oil Extraction Plant

About the role

WTS Energy is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support its vegetable oil extraction plant. The role involves sampling, analysis, and quality verification of oilseeds, crude and refined oils, and related by‑products to ensure compliance with product specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and analyse samples of incoming oilseeds, crude oil, refined oil, meals, by‑products, water, utilities and environmental media.
• Perform wet‑chemistry and instrumental analyses using validated methods and recognised standards.
• Operate, maintain, calibrate, verify and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.
• Verify product compliance, report non‑conforming materials and provide timely results to production and R&D teams.
• Maintain laboratory quality management records in line with GLP, GMP, ISO, HACCP and ALCOA+ principles.
• Support method validation, internal QC programmes, proficiency testing and laboratory audits.
• Manage chemicals, reagents, consumables and reference materials safely.
• Assist with regulatory inspections, customer audits and corrective actions.
• Promote HSEQ compliance and safe laboratory practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in an analytical or industrial laboratory, preferably in food processing, edible oils or chemical manufacturing.
• Familiarity with laboratory quality systems such as GLP, GMP, ISO standards, HACCP and data‑integrity principles.
• Professional certification in Quality Management is an advantage.
