Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science

About the role

Rongo University seeks a dedicated Lecturer to teach and advance knowledge in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The role combines classroom instruction, research leadership, and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and assess AI and Data Science courses for undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Conduct and publish research that informs policy, practice, and innovation.
• Develop proposals to secure research funding and register patents for inventions.
• Supervise student projects, practicums, and field attachments.
• Provide mentorship, career counselling, and professional development for students and junior staff.
• Collaborate with faculty on curriculum design and with industry partners for consultancy and community projects.
• Participate in academic conferences, publish in peer‑reviewed journals, and contribute to professional service.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant field, or a Master’s degree with at least three years of university teaching experience (or six years in research/industry).
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body.
• Demonstrated teaching and research ability, with a record of conference participation.
• Minimum publication points as defined for Masters or PhD holders.
