Locum Registered Nurse

About the role

Stratostaff East Africa is recruiting a full-time locum Registered Nurse based on Thika Road, Nairobi, reporting to the Programme Coordinator of the RCO department. The nurse delivers high-quality, compassionate patient care in line with Registered Nursing Officer standards, working in 8-hour shifts at a rate of KES 1,500 per shift.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the highest standard of client care following clinic treatment protocols and guidelines.
• Provide effective triage and monitor and evaluate patients admitted to the hospital.
• Administer medication and carry out medical procedures within healthcare guidelines and protocols.
• Carry out investigations and procedures ordered by doctors and clinical officers.
• Run other clinics as assigned by Daktari Africa and Stratostaff Ltd, if any.
• Provide client counselling such as reproductive health, HIV, vaccination, pap smear and cancer screening.
• Keep medical equipment in the clinic maintained and available.
• Prepare and present regular nursing reports on time.
• Assist in formulating, reviewing and implementing policies and procedures such as infection prevention.
• Take part in health talks, presentations and continuous medical education events, and in clinical audits and stock counts.

Required profile

• BSc N, KRCHN or KRN KRM qualification.
• At least three years of relevant general nursing experience in a busy hospital (outpatient department, medical, surgical or paediatric wards).
• Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya and holding a valid nursing practice licence.
• Excellent clinical acumen, customer service and communication skills, empathy for patients of all ages, and ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
