Marina Manager – US Navy Program

About the role

The Marina Manager will lead all marina operations for a critical US Navy program on Diego Garcia, ensuring safe, efficient boating activities and exceptional service for staff and patrons.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate daily marina functions, including equipment rentals, recreational boating, and facility management.
• Serve as instructor/trainer for small‑craft handling (sail and power) and as a basic sailing instructor.
• Maintain compliance with safety standards and enforce safety protocols for staff and patrons.
• Develop and deliver boating‑safety programs and training for both patrons and marina personnel.
• Oversee maintenance, inspections, and readiness of marina equipment, vessels, and facilities.
• Lead emergency response activities, ensuring readiness to act within one hour of notification.
• Provide high‑quality customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
• Prepare operational reports, inventory logs, and compliance documentation.
• Supervise and develop marina staff to achieve operational excellence.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience supervising a marina or similar recreational boating facility, preferably within US Navy MWR programs.
• High school diploma or equivalent; higher education in a related field is a plus.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining validity and ability to travel internationally.
• Availability to work regular hours and respond on‑site within one hour for emergencies.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and obtain necessary facility credentials.

Required skills

• Certification or ability to obtain certification as an instructor/trainer in small‑craft handling (sail and power).
• Basic sailing instructor certification.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
