Market Specialist – Nairobi Trading Communities

About the role

Kuwa Pay is looking for a hands‑on Market Specialist to drive outreach and onboarding of traders in Nairobi’s bustling open‑air markets. You will act as the bridge between local merchants and Kuwa Pay’s cross‑border payment solutions for China.

Key responsibilities

• Build and coordinate market outreach across key trading areas such as Gikomba, Kamukunji, Eastleigh, and Mlolongo/Athi River.
• Recruit, train and manage local promoters who will engage merchants and facilitate onboarding.
• Identify active trading zones, merchant groups, importers and high‑potential customers.
• Explain Kuwa Pay’s China payment services, guide customer onboarding and demonstrate basic product use.
• Develop trusted relationships with traders, wholesalers, shop owners and market associations.
• Collect market feedback and provide actionable insights to management.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in Nairobi wholesale or open‑air markets and a strong network among traders, wholesalers, importers or shop owners.
• Proven ability to recruit, organise and supervise field promoters or sales teams.
• Confidence in merchant acquisition, field sales and frequent market visits.
• Fluent in Swahili and confident English communication.
• Reliability, initiative and readiness to work on the ground.
• Experience with China sourcing, importing or cross‑border payments is an advantage.
