Marketing, Communications & Fundraising Officer

About the role

The Marketing, Communications & Fundraising Officer will raise Kahawatu Foundation’s profile, engage donors and mobilise resources by turning programme evidence into compelling stories and fundraising materials. The role works closely with programme, MEL, finance and leadership teams to ensure consistent, high‑quality communication across all channels.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage an organization‑wide communications calendar aligned with programme milestones, donor cycles and sector events.
• Create human‑interest stories, case studies, newsletters, reports and marketing materials that clearly convey impact.
• Manage website (Kahawatu.org) and social‑media channels, applying SEO and analytics to improve reach.
• Research prospective donors, maintain a pipeline, and coordinate the preparation of concept notes, grant applications and stewardship materials.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, international development or a related field.
• Four to six years of experience in communications, fundraising or donor relations, preferably within an NGO or development context.
• Proven ability to produce external communications and support proposal development.

Required skills

• Website content‑management systems and social‑media publishing tools.
• Microsoft 365 suite, digital analytics and SEO techniques.
• Photography, video or graphic‑design capability (advantageous).
